I started Karate when I was 12 years old, along with my brother and sister. Both my brother and I took our 1st Dan Black Belts together with the KUGB under the instruction of Sensei Enoeda. I achieved my 3rd Dan Black belt whilst with the KUGB, where I had the opportunity to compete in the England team around the world, competing in both Individual Kata, Kumite and Team events.
I have competed in both World & European Championships; my highest achievement was 3rd in both World Championships in Individual Kumite in Italy and also various 3rd in European and International Championships for both Kata & Kumite. I achieved many National Titles including Kata and Kumite over the years, also joining with others to compete in Team Kata and Team Kumite events. Kumite still remains my favourite event.
Then, during the course of my Karate career my, instructor at the time moved to UKTKF under Sensei Kawasoe, where I also achieved my 4th Dan in 1998. I continued to compete around the world in countries including, Moscow, Italy, Sweden, Las Vegas, France, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Russia, Poland, Macedonia and others. I very recently went to Japan to kick start my training enthusiam, and I intend to work towards my 5th Dan. I have been very lucky in my training career and have had the opportunity to train with many of the greats, including Sensei Kawasoe, Otha, Enodea, Tanaka, Ochi, Oaska, Kagawa, Hooper, Amos, Shirai, Kanawasa, Sherry, Poynton, Nishiyma and more recently.
